Kanaani is a gripping tale of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Obehi and Gbovo, two young lovers from Nigeria, dream of escaping to the United States—their “Promised Land” (Kanaani)—in search of a brighter future. When only one can make the journey, Gbovo selflessly lets Obehi go, vowing to reunite with her soon.

However, Obehi’s journey takes a harrowing turn when she is deceived and forced into prostitution, cut off from any means of communication. Fearing the worst, Gbovo risks everything to follow her, embarking on a perilous journey through Libya. Tragically, he too is betrayed and sold into slavery.

This poignant film sheds light on the dark and often untold realities of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. It explores the depths of suffering endured by two separated lovers while celebrating the power of determination, commitment, and hope to overcome even the direst circumstances.
